Reminders
  • Progress Reports - Reports will be sent home on Friday, Sept. 29. LAUSD will have a new Report Card system this year, so everything will look a little different. Please review with your child at home. Sign and return by the following Friday. If you have questions, let me know.
  • Choir Auditions - This Friday, Miss Kristin (music teacher) will have choir auditions for those students who wish to be in the Welby Way Choir. This is an additional music program for upper grade students only who enjoying singing. I will send home a permission slip on Monday for those who are interested. If your child is interested and wants to make a commitment, please go over the slip with he/she and make sure it's signed by Friday.
  • PICTURE DAY - Friday, September 29 - I sent home Picture Day envelopes last week. Please check your child's folder for this information. You can start bringing them in tomorrow.

Weekly News for September 5 -8

Graded Work Envelope
You will receive a Graded Work Envelope on Thursday of this week. Please look over the papers inside with your child and discuss things that went well and areas for improvement. DO NOT keep the papers at home. We are building a portfolio with all our work and need papers to be returned to class. Thank you! Be sure to sign the envelope and let me know if you have any questions. You have one week to return the envelope. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

Headphones

If your child has earbuds or headphones at home, please send them to class as soon as possible. I have headphones from the 3rd grade teachers, as well as from parents who ordered new headphones this year.


New Schedule Starts this Week! 

  • Monday - Psychomotor with the PE coaches and Music with Miss Staves (next week) 
  • Wednesday - Library 
  • Thursday - Ballroom Dance (starting in October) 
  • Friday - PE with coaches 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We need volunteers to help on Monday mornings at psychomotor from 8:10-9:10. You will work with the PE coaches to help run stations and monitor the students. We need at least a few parents so we can have a rotating schedule. If you are able to make this commitment, please email Mrs. Sundberg as soon as possible. Thank you!

Scholastic Book Orders

New book orders are in your child's homework folder!  Orders are due by Friday. You can order online using the code attached to the book order!  Every time you order, our classroom gets a free book!
